Jacob graduated from the University of Jamestown with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2017. Jacob became interested in Physical Therapy as a student-athlete at UJ, where he played both football and basketball.
Jacob has continued to learn since he entered the field. He has several certifications including Clinical Management of Fitness Athletes (Cert-CMFA), personalized blood flow restriction training (PBFR), and intramuscular stimulation (IMS). He has taken several courses on manual therapy and pain education. He is also a CrossFit Level 1 coach (CF-L1).
Jacob became interested in CrossFit and strength and conditioning while in physiotherapy school. It has since carried over into both his personal and professional life. He specializes in working with fitness athletes, as well as weekend warriors. His treatment philosophy focuses on active rehab and lifestyle behaviors (sleep, diet, stress management) to get you above and beyond where you were prior to your injury. He supplements with hands-on manual therapy in order to help reduce and relieve symptoms.
Jacob moved to the island in 2018 with his wife, Meghan. When not at work, Jacob is hanging out at a CrossFit gym, playing basketball, hiking, reading, or listening to podcasts (which are likely related to physio or fitness).
