WSBC Levels of protection and specific guidelines at Saanich Physiotherapy and Sports Clinic

You can expect to see some changes when you next see your therapist at the clinic. We are doing our very best to ensure the health and safety of our community.

• First level protection (elimination): Use policies and procedures to limit the
number of people in your workplace at any one time. Implement protocols to
keep workers at least 2 metres (6 feet) from coworkers, customers, and others.

We will ask patients to stay in their car until appointment time. They will be greeted by admin and asked specific questions. You must answer NO to all to proceed with treatment.

1. Do you have a cough, fever or difficulty breathing?
2. Have you travelled outside of the province in the last 14 days?
3. Have you been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for covid in the past 14 days?

You will be asked by admin and the therapists to please maintain 2 meters. There will also be extensive signage.

You will notice that gym will be used in a very limited capacity because of surfaces on exercise equipment.

Please try to use the washroom at home before coming to the clinic.

Expect things to move a bit slower at the clinic as we try to keep you safe.

• Second level protection (engineering controls):
If you can’t always maintain
physical distancing, install barriers such as plexiglass to separate people.

Please don’t take it personally, but there will be plexiglass at the front desk. We ask that if possible please make payment contactless.

You will notice that the clinic is arranged differently to control the flow of patients.

There will be only two seats separated by over 2m and no reading materials in the reception.

We will be compartmentalizing patients to maintain infection control measures by staff.

• Third level protection (administrative controls):
Establish rules and guidelines,
such as cleaning protocols, telling workers to not share tools, or implementing
one-way doors or walkways.

You will notice that will be minimizing use of shared tools (for example exercise equipment).

We will be cleaning heavily used surfaces on frequent basis.

We will disinfect all treatment rooms diligently between patients.

We will be using disposable paper to minimize cross contamination.

You will receive guidance from admin and therapists to ensure proper staggering of flow.

• Fourth level protection (PPE):
If the first three levels of protection aren’t enough
to control the risks, have workers and customers use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks.
PPE should not be used as the only control measure. It should only be used in combination with other measures.

Our staff will be wearing masks for treatment. We suggest that you bring your own mask which you find most comfortable.

We might select to wear safety glasses, face shields or gloves for certain procedures.

You are most welcome to wear any PPE that are suitable for physical treatment.

These recommendations are based on the latest information from BCCDC, WSBC, GOVT of BC and the Colleges of Physical Therapy and Massage Therapy of BC.
