Any patient choosing to see a physical therapist is choosing between two forks in the road: easy street and work street. Life doesn’t come with a guarantee: neither easy street nor work street has guarantees.
Easy street consists of passivity and mild behavior changes such as popping a pill or attending visits to doctors, chiropractors or massage therapists.
Work street consists of: active involvement, time commitment, and behavior changes. Work street consists of more skin in the game.
Easy street may have a story, but it won’t have a significant personal relevance. Easy street may have short term benefit. Work street will always have a story or two, memories, laughter and maybe a few tears, and hopefully an ending that involves pride and long term benefit.
Cheers to all who choose physical therapists.
